Changing the Agenda

In Uncategorized on Octubre 9, 2007 at 6:21 pm

Ecuadorian president, Rafael Correa has obtained strong victories in last three elections, yet, the mainstream media continues to portrait a grim and highly oppositional environment for his political project. As Omar Ospina exposed last Sunday in his opinion column in the Diario hoy, there is a disconnection between the democratic will of ninety percent of Ecuadorians, and the economical elites that own the media outlets.

It is not only the ideological opposition; it is just natural that in free market of ideas there should be clear political differences. Is that the cacophony in the media agenda is more align with a hegemonic discourse of criticism, apart from the hopes and social reality of the population.

Latin America is living in a new media paradigm, where media schizophrenia, is debunked in every election.
